Good News for the Inverleith Park Depot Site

The community worries about the old depot site at Inverleith Park being sold for housing development have been laid to rest.

The Lib Dem led administration has agreed to dedicate the site for community use. A motion passed at Policy & Strategy committee on 4th October recognised that there is potential to develop the site for social purposes and instructed Council Officials to proceed on this basis (and not to sell the site).

One possibility is to put in some new allotment plots there in recognition of the fact that there are currently 2,367 outstanding applications for such plots in the Edinburgh area.

The council officials will carry out an appraisal of the suitability of the site for allotments but will also carry out a community consultation regarding other possible uses. hese will hopefully include toilets but might aslo include a cafe at the old Farm house, or extended play facilitites.
