About Tim

Tim McKayrepresents the Inverleith ward in the City of Edinburgh. He is currently Convener of the Lothian Pensions and Trusts Committee, as well as Vice-Convener of the Economic Development Committee.

Tim is also a director of the EDI Property Development Company and its parent company, CEC Holdings.

Prior to being elected a councillor he took a degree in Pure Maths & Theoretical Physics at St Andrews University, then qualified as a Chartered Accountant with Coopers & Lybrand (now PWC), and later as an Investment Analyst with the WM Company.

He has worked for 11 years in a variety of Edinburghbased Financial Services companies and then latterly was teaching at Napier University. As his academic career developed Tim travelled extensively, teaching in Poland, Australia, the Cayman Islands, Hong Kong and mainland China. Eventually he became Head of Accounting and Finance at Napier (from 1998 to 2002).

His hobbies include tennis, cycling, running and bridge.

 

He has fought three general elections, Hamilton for the Scottish Liberal Party in 1987, East Lothian for the Lib Dem Alliance in 1992 and Edinburgh South West for the Lib Dems in 2010.
